Our why for doing this business: We want to make a living running good, clean beef cattle and want you to have a fair price for the best beef around. See, it's easy. We enjoy traditional ranching, you enjoy great beef that is affordable.
There is a problem with the beef you buy at many supermarkets. And you may be aware of some of it...but do you know the whole story?
The reason we run beef is simple: we enjoy it! You may enjoy a career in teaching, fitness or accounting. But what if the industry/profession you are in was unavailable to people who needed it due to price? Or sourcing? Or quality? This is what we are facing in the beef market.
What's up with the price?
The summary of how typical commercial beef is priced:
Where is the meat coming from?
Many suppliers are coming out of Mexico, Brazil, China and other places. Over the past 10 years, that amount has increased dramatically. The USDA has also repealed the law making it necessary to reveal the country of origin of imported beef. "USDA" means an inspection, not where the beef was raised.
While this fact does not make the meat bad or unsafe, it does beg the question....what about the local rancher? Importing from outside hurts our own ranchers, kind of like when the big guy comes in and puts the mom and pop out of business and then drives up their own prices. It just isn't honest business.
They added what?!
In keeping things simple on our ranch and sticking to smaller operations, we can give more attention to each animal without increasing your costs.
You know where your beef is raised. Come see the place if you have time!
You know the middle men aren't taking all your money. The only middle man we use is the locker/butcher: a USDA approved facility and a legal necessity.
You know nothing is added to your product. We keep things above board and simply want to work as ranchers!
